Duke Hotel - A Summit Hotel hotel description>>

Pure Pleasure
Reviewer: Rome visitor, Newbury.Vermont

My husband & I just returned from 6 days at the Duke Hotel ( 2/22-2/28/04). It truly lived up to its 4 star rating! Everyone, in every capacity, was pleasant & happy to help us. They all wanted us to like Rome & to have a good time. Our room was lovely: cream walls, deep green & deep yellow draperies and bed coverings. We had a large marble bathroom with an enormous tub. Maids checked on the room several times a day & replaced wet towels, etc. We were lucky enough to have a large terrace, complete with lemon trees. Quite an addition to our room! Nowhere have we had a selection for breakfast that we had at The Duke. Every kind of cereal, juices, breads, croissants, muffins & breads, eggs and bacon, cheeses, fresh fruits, coffees and teas. I may have left out some items , too. We especially enjoyed sitting on the over-stuffed sofas after dinner and looking through the large art books on some of the sights we had seen during the day. Often the piano was being played and drinks or tea was being served. Although the hotel is not in the bustling center of Rome, we used the free shuttle service which placed us a block away from the Via Veneto and near the Metro. The selection of times to be dropped off and picked up gave us lots of leeway when we made our daily plans. Even at four in the morning, when we had to leave to get our plane home, the staff was cheerful and caring. This palce was a pure pleasure.

superb hotel in a quiet neighbourhood, but not too far away from the city center, very attentive staff, very good italian food in the restaurant, lounge is "very british", i would definitely stay there again.

A Lovely Home in Rome
Reviewer: Rome visitor, City, State

This is a wonderful hotel with lovely rooms, an attentive staff, and a great breakfast on offer. It has the light, airy spacious feeling so lacking at many Rome hotels, which are usually on the dark and heavy side. It is also very elegant and at the same time complete with modern amenities such as Internet access, etc.
This hotel is in the high-end residential district of Parolia, which is a boon and a bane. It is quiet and gives you the feeling that you are living in Rome rather than being a tourist in it, and it's great for morning and evening strolls. However, the hotel is rather far from the general tourist and business areas although it has a free shuttle to the center of town several times a day.
I would certainly stay here each time I am in Rome as it is like being in a lovely home away from home. At current prices, it also offers exceptional value for Rome.
