OK hotel, a safe bet

We stayed here for three nights in Feb 2004, and found it to be a decent, if unremarkable hotel. They say it's four stars, but it is more like three. Our double room was fine, but the bathroom was a bit cracked and mouldy in places - no decent satellite channels on tv, no tea/coffee-making facilities. They say it is sound-proofed but we got quite a bit of traffic noise. On the upside, it's handy for the terminus station, the breakfast was fairly good, although the bar wasn't open when we stayed there. They were happy for us to leave our bags for the whole of our checkout day and there was a taxi rank very nearby. If you want a safe bet for an ok hotel, this is it, but nothing more!

The hotel is well located with a view of the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore. We had a twin room, which was small but nicely decorated, to the front of the hotel with one of the hotel's few small balconies. It had a great view of the Basilica. The room however had a a number of flaws such as torn bed covers (poor for a 4 star) &no plug in the sink. Staff were friendly and the breakfast was good in a buffet style.The hotel is only a short walk (10 mins) from Termini Station which is the main station in the city (you can get a train direct from Da Vinci Airport to Termini).

A 3 to 3.5 star hotel only

The hotel is in a good location between two stations and a lovely church. However when the weather was good, it was possible to walk to most locations except the Vatican and the Spanish Steps. The room itself is very small, but the bed is at least big. The TV was very small and if the weather had been any worse, we would certainlt never have wasted time in the hotel room itself. The bathroom was a little degraded with mould on the shower and a broken shower door. Breakfast was of a good quality. Overall, I would class this only as a good quality three star hotel.
