Spent 3 nights at MP from Feb 22-25, 2004. I found the reviews on Trip Advisor to be very helpful to my selection of MP and wish to report that I found the reviews very accurate. Staff: Helpful, good English, and pleasant Room: Average size, quiet, English TV (CNN & BBC) View: Requested view of SMM basilica. Room on floor 5...very nice view of church and Piazza Bathroom: Clean, spacious, plenty of hot water Breakfast: Adequate, but not great. Nice to have included as food is expensive in Rome. Location: Although Termini area is a bit run-down, I did not find it scary. Hotel is definitely within close walk of the station for those coming on express from airport. We used Victor Emmanuel metro stop which is has an exit right onto Via Carlo Alberto (street of the hotel...about 2-3 blocks walk) and seemed a bit more pleasant than getting off metro at Termini.We would probably stay at MP again. Many of major sites are within comfortable walking distance.Many thanks to fellow "trip advisors" for their help in selecting MP. As a "first timer" to Rome, I found the reviews to be right on the money!

Great Value for Money

My husband and I spent weekend of 6th February at the Mecenate and were very pleased that the hotel lived up to expectations. Although the bedroom was small it was spotless and well appointed. We found the location good with a very nice 'family' restaurant just up the road (booked for us by Roberto) at approx £30 per head with wine for 4 courses. We were able to walk to all the main attractions from the hotel (including Vatican City) although we did cover a fair few miles! The hotel overlooks the Santa Maria basilica which is absolutely stunning.

Excellent Suite

My wife and I stayed in the Virgilio suite in October. The room was a bit small by US standards however it was well appointed. Spa Tub was fantastic after long walks thru Rome! The private roof-top patio outside our room was huge! Great view! Service was excellent and so was the breakfast. A good value. Definately going to stay again!
