I agree it's over-priced, but a great location. We stayed there twice. Both times we asked for a city view when we booked and were told all rooms were run-of-house. When we arrived, we were initially given a non-view room; but one with a glorious view miraculously appeared when I really complained! I don't think it's fair to treat people that way when they've traveled so far and paid so much for something special. We will not be staying there again.
It is not a bad hotel but terrible value. Other than the location immediately above the Spanish Steps and the amazing view from the restaurant, this is a three start hotel with six star prices. If you do decide to go here get a room with a view of the Spanish steps, even some of the cheaper (if you can call 400 Euro cheap...) ones actually come with a tiny balcony which gives you a beautiful angled view on the steps. The rooms and bathrooms are tiny and really not special at all.Staff lives of their reputation but the restaurant really has an unbelievable view over the city.Great hotels in Rome are much harder to find than in London, Paris, etc. so my next try will be the Hotel de Russie.
Our suite was less than nice. The only decent things were the concierge and the Spanish Steps. Never again. Very over rated. |
